Analytical - 25 August

I installed Google Analytics onto my web site. Which is a bit pointless as the lack of new material will have caused me to drop off the radar of anyone who cared by this time, but it's free and I want to use it elsewhere, so I thought I'd try it out.

So after I stuck it on to the front page, I hit refresh a few times and waited 24 hours. Not at the computer, you understand. Looking at the results was less than interesting as I was 100% of the visitors and I knew that anyway. Also nice colourful graphs aren't much fun without masses of different data. So blah.

But then! I pointed to the map of the world which showed where I was, and the tooltip said 'Knockburrane Cross Roads'. I was curious. So I googled (as you do) and found this. Don't bother calling in the air strike, I don't live there, although I would be pissed off as it would undoubtedly fuck up my internet as I have concluded that this is where my ISP is based or registered or something.

Coming back through Heathrow yesterday was the first time since the recent security alerts and it wasn't any worse than normal. Still no liquids, but I don't carry them as a rule. I was packing up my stuff after the usual unpack and x-ray routine when I saw a badge on the ground. I picked it up and was slightly amused to see what it said (and by it's traditional anarchist colours). I didn't put it on though as I thought that a pin might be classified as a sharp object, and a humourless security person could give me grief for no reason at all. The fact that this crossed my mind leads me to conclude that the terrorists have already won.

Returning home, Paddy remarked that I looked like a worker. I was wearing a suit. "If you only had a tie" he said. I owned that I did have a tie, but that I hadn't put it on. He was both amazed and disappointed I think. I don't think that he only equates working with suit wearing, but I'll have to clarify the situation I think. Have to keep an eye on the stereotype implantation.
