New and old - 14 January
While it's very appealing to think that new year's day or anniversaries or dates ending in zero or first thing on Monday morning are magical times of the year/week/day that enable you to become the person you always wanted to be, the sad truth is that you can stop being an asshole/give up smoking/go to the gym/try and feed the world at any time. There's no reason to put it off. OK, so 12:19 on Friday doesn't strike one as being a good time to start anything, but if you always have to start being a new person on Monday morning and you get up too late, then it's another seven days before you can have another shot at it. So why not start now. Right now. It's too much bother, that's why. Mail order junkie, C'est moi. Right now I'm waiting on four (!) deliveries (Amazon, Amazon reseller, Komplett and new TV), and I don't think I'll get any of them today to go with the Revenue Commisioners (bless 'em) request for info. Oh, a courier just rang. Me telly is coming! My credit card is flexing its muscles, big time. We moved office. Common sense held. Someone pointed out that having two sitting tenants in the building (us and another company) -- even if they only rent half the building -- was better than one empty building. Especially since there's something like three million square feet of empty office space within spitting distance. So we moved. But only downstairs. Our new space is nice and quiet, but maybe a bit small. I parlayed a window seat, not that that matters, but it means that no-one walks past my desk anymore. TV is installed, but a recent storm has damaged our ariel. Boo. |
