The eyes have it - 12 January

I used to have lovely eyebrows. Someone asked me once did I pluck them, they were so perfect. Now look at them. "Beetling up", Sally's mum calls it. An unruly mess, I'd say. Why is this happening? Are my eyes more susceptible to dust from above? Is my forehead now channeling more water in the direction of my eyes than before? No, I think not. Yet another example of one's body betraying one. Be thankful I spared you the nose and ear hair.

Traveled on Thursday to England (apparently I have to stop saying yoo kay) for a meeting that seemed to go well. But having a meeting go well is not indication that there'll be any money at the end of it, but we'll see. I re-did some of this website and updated the book stuff for the new year. I've bought more books! I intend to get into this in a more committed fashion. Audible is annoying me a bit as while their slogan is (let me get this right...) audio that speaks to you wherever you are that should have (as long as you're in the US or Canada) tagged on the end. I can understand that they have agreements and can't sell stuff this side of the pond in some cases, but instead of putting a health warning on the title in question and removing the Add to cart button, why not make it invisible? Anyway, the book section should see more action this year.

We went out to dinner on Saturday and the meal was ho hum but at the end I was given the best cup of coffee I've ever had. It was just magnificent. Coffee is somewhat of a let down. By that I mean that it never really tastes as good as it smells. When you walk past Bewleys (at least in the old days) and could smell the coffee roasting, you'd take it home and be just slightly disappointed. This cup however, was just mighty. It was like a rich quadruple espresso with that lovely swirl of coffee foam on top (the crown, I think they call it). I ordered another, but I got let down. Weakly.

Later, in bed, I had got to sleep before being wakened by Paddy*. After that, there was no prospect of sleep and so I read until about five. I've never been affected by caffeine before (not knowingly anyway). Yet another example of one's body betraying one.

*I should just call this PaddyBlog and be done with it.
